It was a long wait but we finally held our 2021 SMNE LC Summer Champs in early January 2022. Normally held in November each year, Covid changed our plans (again) but that didn’t stop us. We were determined to be able to hold a meet, safely and securely, for our swimmers. After all, that’s what we’re here for – to provide racing opportunities for our MNE Club swimmers!
It was a couple of very wet and windy days in Sydney so what better way to spend such a day than in the pool, away from the wild weather. We had just under 400 swimmers compete in 54 individual events and 8 relay events. There were PBs getting smashed left, right and centre. In a new Covid friendly format, ages were split into different sessions with the 13/overs competing each morning and the 12/unders competing after lunch each day. This format enabled everyone to spread out and maintain admirable social distancing whilst enjoying the competition.
As usual the relay events were the highlights of each day with lots of friendly but fierce competition amongst the Clubs. Congratulations to the following relay teams:

– Warringah 1st, 2nd and 3rd

Lastly, a very big THANK YOU to all the Technical Officials and volunteers without whom these meets would not be able to run. Many gave up their personal time and didn’t even have a swimmer competing! Many signed up to help out in a number of roles and duties.
Thank you to all the swimmers, parents and coaches who supported our meet and we look forward to the next one!
