About Us

Swimming Metro North East is the regional arm of Swimming NSW and Swimming Australia, proudly supporting the growth of competitive swimming across Sydney’s metropolitan north-east.

Established in 2010 through the merger of the Northern Suburbs and Warringah Amateur Swimming Association, our Area brings together a strong and united swimming community with a shared commitment to excellence, opportunity and development.

Our mission is to promote and deliver high-quality competitions, development pathways and support programs for swimmers, coaches and officials throughout the Swimming Metro North East region.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we represent around 17 affiliated clubs and a vibrant membership base of more than 1,400 competitive swimmers, 500 Club supporter members and 80 Life Members. Entirely volunteer-run, we proudly:

  • Deliver competitive swimming meets and championships
  • Provide athlete development opportunities
  • Train and accredit officials
  • Support coach education and growth
  • Coordinate regional initiatives and activities
  • Reinvest annually into swimming across our local community

Through collaboration, dedication and a passion for the sport, Swimming Metro North East continues to strengthen and grow swimming at every level.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the Country we meet on. We recognise their continuing connection to the land and waters, and thank them for protecting this coastline and its ecosystems since time immemorial. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all First Nations people present today.

SMNE Strategic Plan

SMNE is dedicated to supporting our swimmers, coaches and volunteers. Together, we celebrate the wide range of benefits that swimming brings to our community. We are a place where our members can connect with like-minded people, pursue their goals and advance their professional careers. We provide a platform for swimmers to enjoy and further their swimming throughout the winter and summer seasons.

Our aim is to continue implementing creative initiatives towards helping achieve our goal.

The SMNE board combines an excellent mix of experience and professional backgrounds bringing energy and ideas that results in an amazing ability to make a real difference. We thank our member Clubs for their insightful feedback.

The board is excited to share the strategic plan that will guide us over the next 3 years. We look forward to progressing SMNE through new initiatives and the exciting opportunities that are ahead of us.
