Development Squads – 2022

DEVELOPMENT SQUADS ARE BACK!
Ater 2 years of lockdowns and last minute cancellations, Development Squads are back in 2022, bigger and better than ever
The Development squads are similar each year and the following is similar to previous years.
There are four (4) sessions this year:
- Squads A+B (combined), C and D will attend separate clinics focused on swimming faster freestyle, with James Magnussen
- There will be an additional (extra cost) Formstroke clinic for swimmers who qualify for Squads A, B or C and are aged 12-16 years who have not yet competed at a National Age Championships.
- Swimmers do NOT need to enrol in one of the Freestyle clinics to be eligible for the Formstroke clinic, OR can enrol in both by filling out an enrolment form (for each clinic) and paying the fees for each clinic
Important Criteria
- Swimmers selected for another SNSW Development/target squad are not eligible to attend MNE development squads as they will receive similar, funded training at the SNSW event.
- Numbers for each squad are strictly limited and applications will automatically close when full
- MNE Swimmers and Coaches should self-assess the correct squad for each swimmer according to the selection criteria.
- If a swimmer wishes to nominate for both freestyle and form stroke clinic, 2x applications and 2x payments are required (ie separate enrolment for each session)
The health and wellbeing of our swimmers, volunteers, officials, coaches and spectators will always be paramount. We ask for your support in our efforts to prevent COVID-19 and be vigilant in your personal hygiene, social distancing and avoid attending our activities if unwell.
Squads in 2022
SMNE is dedicated to recognising and rewarding dedicated young swimmers in our area and therefore heavily subsidizes Development activities. Our Development Squad activities allow swimmers with a range of abilities from within our Area the chance to further their skills and knowledge of swimming, whilst making new friends and receiving advice from a variety of coaches and professionals in their field.
MNE Swimmers and Coaches should self assess the correct squad for each swimmer according to the selection criteria.
SMNE has 4 squads based on age and ability. The criteria for each squad is defined below. All Swimmers must hold current financial Primary Club membership with a Metro North East Club. Swimmers who don’t meet this criteria will be removed without a refund.
